A grand fair, Somanth Mahadev Fair or Kartk Purnima Mela, is held in the month of Novemeber on the occassion of the birthday of Lord Murga or Kartikeya. This day is celebrated on a grand note at the Somnath Temple and attracts a large number of devotees every year. Kartikeya is the son of Lord Shiva.
