Kaveri Pooja

The Kaveri is one of the most important rivers of the Indian subcontinent and is of great religious importance to Hindus everywhere. It is a river that is very important to lives and livelihoods of millions of people in southern India. There are several accounts about the importance of the Kaveri within the pages of several Hindu scriptures like the Skanda Purana that highlight its importance as one of the key rivers of Hinduism.

Importance Of Kaveri Pooja

According to legends the river Kaveri was once a heavenly apsara named Lopamudra. She had assisted the Mohini form of Lord Vishnu during the episode of Samudra Manthan. She came down on earth by the deeds of sage Kashyapa, who had received a vision from Lord Brahma to carry a pot of ice water from Kailash. Kashyapa had given the pot to a young boy (who was actually Lord Ganesh) who spilled the pot’s water at the Brahmagitri hills; the point of origin of the river. Kaveri is regarded as a Goddess who is the ‘giver of life’ for millions of people.
